NEWS

Michael Overacker and the Astronomy Mobile Outreach Vehicle received a donation of a Quark Chromosphere Solar Filter to expand the capabilities of the outeach program in the realm of solar observing Thanks to DayStar Filters for their support of the astronomy outreach of the Astronomy Mobile Outreach Vehicle.

Michael Overacker and the Astronomy Mobile Outreach Vehicle received a donation of a Celestron Evolution 8" Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope for continuing efforts of astronomy outreach in the area. Thank you, Celestron, for your support and your continued dedication toward the advancement of astronomy and astronomical telescopes.

In January 2012, Michael Overacker, builder and owner of StarGazer 2.0, the Astronomy Mobile Outreach Vehicle, was awarded the Clifford W. Holmes Grant by the Riverside Telescope Makers Conference. This grant is awarded to persons who are working, through outreach, to promote astronomy to the general public. It is good to get this support from such a worthy organization.

The StarGazer 2.0 is often used to support the Star City Astronomy Network (SCAN). SCAN is a group of astronomers dedicated to teaching astronomy and the importance of dark skies to the public and organized groups. Click on the SCAN logo to visit the SCAN Website.
